Florian Eickhold

Florian Eickhold has over 15 years of experience in developing climate policies and solutions. After graduating from the University of Cologne with a degree in Latin American Studies, specializing in environmental economics and international politics, he worked on international climate change projects. Now he designs sustainable carbon market and climate finance projects and innovates key elements of corporate or public climate change strategies. He works closely with industry, start-ups and social enterprises to develop environmentally sustainable businesses. His areas of expertise include carbon pricing, climate strategies, the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and a Paris-based voluntary carbon market.

Where do I come from?

I was born in Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr area at a time when coal was still mined there and burned in blast furnaces. Even though I moved away from there when I was 4 years old, I still have many positive memories of the place and the people there. After different stations in Latin America and Asia I live today in my favorite European cities with "B". Barcelona and Berlin.

What drives me?

The search for the right, ambitious but realistic solution and the diversity of the world.

What is my strategy?

First to listen and look and then to try to understand new information, to look at it from different angles and then to use new knowledge advantageously.
