Getting from A to B with an app that combines public transportation and sharing services to find the best route. That's the business model of the Finnish company MaaS Global. Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) is a functional approach that wants to give users the same freedom that only their own car can provide: to be able to go anywhere at any time.
They use an open ecosystem approach that allows mobility providers to integrate and cooperate with the app. Sharing services and public transportation are displayed on the map and the fastest or cheapest way to get to the destination is calculated. With its Tripguide, Whim not only supports sharing services and public transportation, but primarily serves as a means to get around cheaply.
Together with the MaaS Alliance, an international MaaS association of diverse stakeholders, they are working closely with infrastructure and policy - on a regional to international level to be able to make mobility sustainable for the wider society.
We distinguish in three impact levels of circularity. As a circular ecosystem, Whim App by MaaS is a good example of Impact Level 3.
